The Great Commission

Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

— Matthew 28:16-20

For me, Jesus’s command to “Go and make disciples” has always been the reason for a Lutheran school. I want every child to have access to a school that offers the building blocks of our Christian faith and which “raises up” disciples for the sharing of Jesus Christ to others. Disciples don’t just know – they share.

The demand for a Lutheran school education is growing at Pilgrim. I hope every member of our congregation will pause and pray about supporting this opportunity to answer our Lord’s call to “Go and make disciples.” This is a unique opportunity to serve the current and future students of Pilgrim Lutheran School and their families in which I hope every member will participate. As we do so, let’s never forget the comfort offered to us in the second half of verse 20: “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
